Scholarship and Biography
Debarshi Nandy is the Barbara and Richard M. Rosenberg Professor of Global Finance at the International Business School of Brandeis University and an affiliated faculty member of the Department of Economics at Brandeis University. His research interests are in the fields of innovation and financing and returns to innovation. His interests also include entrepreneurial finance, corporate and household finance, and financial intermediation. His research has been published in leading journals in financial economics, such as the Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. Debarshi Nandy currently serves as the Senior Associate Dean of the business school. In the past he had served as the Program Director of the Masters in Finance (MSF) program. He is also the Director of the India Initiative at Brandeis International Business School. He was a visiting research fellow at the Boston Research Data Center of the Center for Economic Studies of the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Bureau of Economic Research. He has received multiple research grants, both from the National Science Foundation in the U.S. and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Debarshi serves as a mentor and advisor to several start-ups. He holds a B.Sc (Hons) and M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Calcutta, India and a Ph.D. in Finance from Boston College.
