Scholarship and Biography

We study human adaptation to unusual force environments including weightless and artificial gravity conditions. A major focus is understanding spatial disorientation in weightless and high force conditions. We are investigating ways to prevent motion sickness in autonomous vehicles and of predicting which individuals are especially susceptible. Both NOVA and the BBC have done programs on our research, the BBC twice.
