Scholarship and Biography
Founder and second violinist of the Lydian String Quartet in residence at Brandeis University since 1980. Plays the full range of the chamber music repertoire. Performances in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Taiwan. Commissions, premieres, and records many new works. Works with young and established composers. Experience with period instrument performance, cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural performance, contemporary music. Interested in the intersection of the Arts and Social Transformation. Teaches violin and chamber music, with emphasis on how interpretation is informed by context. Founder and Director of MusicUnitesUS (Brandeis: 2005-2022) whose mission is to further the understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures through music. Taught Global Soundscapes (music of diverse world traditions) and Chamber Music at Brandeis. Faculty Committee member for CAST interdisciplinary minor (Creativity, the Arts and Social Transformation). Professor of Music at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee (2001-present), Co-founder, director and performer at at music festivals in NY, VT, MA.
