Scholarship and Biography

My lab combines C. elegans genetics with mitochondrial biochemistry to discover genetic and environmental suppressors of mitochondrial dysfunction, with the ultimate goal of rescuing mitochondrial disease. In the process we will explore the basic biology of electron transport chains, iron-sulfur clusters, and how mitochondria have specialized across tissues and cell types, with a particular focus on the nervous system.
