Scholarship and Biography
Sharon Feiman-Nemser is the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Professor of Jewish Education and a Senior Scholar at theJack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education. She holds a joint appointment in the Near Eastern and Judaic Studies Dept. and the Education Program. She founded the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education which she directed from 2001-20015. She started the Delet Program (Day School Leadership Through Teaching) and the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program at Brandeis. She recently launched the Legacy Heritage Teacher Leader Fellowship. Before coming to Brandeis in 2001, she served on the faculties of the University of Chicago and Michigan State University where she directed innovative teacher education programs and conducted research on teacher education and teacher learning. She has written extensively on teacher education, learning to teach, Jewish education. In 2018, she received a presidential citation from the American Educational Research Association for her groundbreaking scholarship on teacher education and learning to teach.
